Immigration

6/17/1885 Albert Brodzinski (son of Nicholas and Marga) immigrated to America aboard the SS Rhaetia, which had departed Hamburg on June 3rd for New York, arriving on the 17th. Onboard the same ship were John and Elizabeth Zielinski and family, including son Frank, who would grow up and marry Albert's sister, Margaretta! The Brodzinski's and Zielinski's came from different parts of Poland, so it's unlikely they knew each other there. It's much more likely that the families came to know each other through this chance encounter onboard ship.
1887 Margaretta "Sophie" Brodzinski immigrated to America (1920 census)
5/26/1891 Frank Brodzinski (son of Nicholas and Marga) immigrated to America aboard the SS Gera. The ship departed Bremen, Germany on April 14th and arrived in Baltimore on the 26th. Upon arriving in America, he set out for Michigan, settling in Menominee. (psgr list)
5/18/1892 Joseph Brodzinski (son of Nicholas and Marga) immigrated from Bremen to Baltimore, name of ship unknown. This information came from Joseph's declaration of intent in 1896. I have searched and have been unable to locate a passenger listing for Joseph in May of 1892, or any where else.
NOTE: No information has been found on the immigration of Nicholas, Marga, Agnes, and the other children. I believe that they did not immigrate to America, but instead, remained in Poland or passed away before the family immigrated.

Albert and Katie had been married for 10 years. They had 4 children, all of whom were still living. It showed that Albert immigrated in 1884, which is incorrect (1885). They had been married for 19 years, and they produced 7 children all of whom were still alive. Albert immigrated in 1885, and his naturalization process was pending (this differs from the 1900 census which showed he was already naturalized). Albert worked as a smelter in a bottling machine factory.

4/5/1913 Joseph Brodzinski (son of Nicolas and Marga) filed his Petition for Naturalization in Winnebago County, WI. The family was residing at 803 3rd Street in Menasha. Joseph stated he was born in 1867 in Rush, Poland. Most likely the town name was a translation error. Joseph immigrated to the US in 1892. At the time of his petition, Joseph was married to Apolonia Kaminski, and the couple had 10 children. Annie, the oldest, was born in Iron Mountain, MI. All the others were born in Menasha, WI. This would indicate that the family moved from Iron Mountain, MI to Menasha, WI between November of 1893 and May of 1895. One of the witnesses for Joseph's Petition was John Strange, who ran the John Strange Paper Company, where Joseph was employed. John stated that he had known Joseph since January 1, 1903. (natur pet)

All the others were born in Menasha, WI. Frank filed his declaration of intent for naturalization on January 8, 1894 in Menominee, MI. This indicates that the family moved from Menominee, MI to Menasha, WI some time between January 1894 and July 1895. The petition includes a very poorly written, yet interesting signature. (natur pet)
9/5/1913 Frank Brodzinski and Joseph Brodzinski (sons of Nicholas and Marga) swore their Oaths Of Allegiance to the United States, completing the naturalization process, and becoming citizens of the USA.
