John Zielinski

John and Elizabeth Zielinski and family all immigrated together in 1885. Leaving their home in Gross Waplitz, Germany (now Waplewo Wielkie, Poland), the family traveled overland to Hamburg, Germany. From there, they sailed on the SS Rhaetia and landed in Castle Garden, New York on June 17, 1885. They settled in Menasha, Wisconsin.

Joseph Zielinski

Joseph Zielinski, John's older brother, and his wife Catharine immigrated in 1881. Prior to immigrating, the couple lived in the Stumm district of Poland, probably in the village of Tillendorf (now Tulice), which is only 4km from Gross Waplitz. The information below comes from Joseph's Declaration of Intent. No other immigration information has been found.

Lingnowski

Brothers Frank and Dominik Lingnowski and families came from Wilczewo, Poland around 1875 and settled in Menasha. At that time, the Zielinskis were in Ellenbruch, approximately 10km away from Wilczewo. Frank Lingnowski married a Marianna Zielinski. Although a connection to our ancestors has not been discovered yet, it's conceivable that the families knew each other in Poland. If so, it's possible that the Lingnowskis were the inspiration for the Zielinskis to immigrate 10 years later.

~unsure who this is. Name on Passenger List looks like "Veronica", but this person is listed as a male, and I do not know of a Veronica Lingnowski.

Bednarowski

Anton Bednarowski, son of John, would grow up and marry Johanna Zielinski, sister of Frank Peter Zielinski and Lawrence's Aunt. According to Anton's Naturalization Petition,  he was born in Stumm, Poland, which could be the city or could be the district. The Zielinski family came from Gross Waplitz, which is a small community in the district of Stumm. The elder John Bednarowski settled in Milwaukee, but several of his children ended up in the Menasha area.
