Brodzinski Immigrants

At least four of Nicholas and Marga Brodzinski's children immigrated to the United States. Marga passed away in Poland before any of the family immigrated. Nicholas never immigrated. After Marga's death, he married Agnes Pawlak (no known relation to the Pawlaks on the Jankowski side of our family tree), and was still producing offspring well into the 1880's! The children immigrated as follows:

• Albert came first in the summer of 1885. His passenger list shows he originated from Waplitz, West Prussia, which is where the John Zielinski family was residing at the time. The John Zielinski family is listed on the same ship as Albert. It is not known for sure if they knew each other in Poland, but it appears highly likely that they did. Albert settled in Menominee, Michigan and remained there for the rest of his life.
  


• According to the 1920 census, Margaretta arrived in the United States in 1887, but I have not been able to find any documentation of this fact. She would have been 16 years old at the time. Likewise, it is unknown if she went to Menominee, Michigan or Menasha, Wisconsin. The first record I have found of her in the USA is her marriage to Frank Zielinski, John's son, on October 31, 1893 in Menasha.
  


• Frank arrived next - in May of 1891. He also went to Menominee, but by 1895 he was in Menasha working for Menasha Woodenware. Interestingly, Frank purchased a lot in Menasha along with Frank Zielinski in May of 1895.
  


• A year after Frank, in May of 1892, Joseph immigrated to the USA. It is not known if Joseph went directly to Menominee or Menasha, but in February of 1893, he married Apolonia Kaminski in Sherwood, Wisconsin (near Menasha). In November of that same year, his first child, Anna, was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan. By May of 1895, he was established in Menasha, where he would remain for the rest of his life.
  


• John Brodzinski, 2nd child born to Nicholas and Marga, may have also immigrated to the United States, but no records have been found to substantiate that fact. When Albert Brodzinski married in 1890 in Menominee, John Brodzinski was listed as a witness - the only possible evidence I have found of John Brodzinski being in the USA.
