Joseph Zielinski was born and died in Poland. The exact dates and locations have not yet been determined. Sometime before 1834, he married Elizabeth Pawlowski in Poland. Birth and death information on Elizabeth has also not yet been found.

The birth records for 3 children have been found in Poland, with all 3 being born in the village of Portschweiten. Michael was born in 1834, Marianna in 1837, and Anne in 1839. In addition (though the birth record hasn't yet been found), Jan and Elizabeth had a fourth child, John. According to John's headstone, he was born June 12, 1839. This cannot be the case, since Anne would have been born only 6 weeks prior. This discrepancy has yet to be resolved. In any case, Michael, Marianna, and John all married in Poland and all immigrated to the United States, Marianna being first in 1874. In fact, Marianna is the earliest Zielinski immigrant found thus far. I have found no marriage or immigration record for Anne. I have also found no indication that Jan and Elizabeth ever immigrated to the United States.

One thing that is certain, Michael, Marianna, and John all settled in Menasha, Wisconsin, where they would spend the rest of their days. All three are buried in St. John's Cemetery in Menasha - a long way from their origins!
